City single rooms have custom-designed beds with a cocooning, wrap-around headboard and hand-made, pocket-sprung mattresses. The rooms have been meticulously designed to maximise the available space, and offer clever storage and beautiful bathrooms; finishing touches include custom-designed carpet, monogrammed cushions and specially commissioned artwork. Guest rooms at The Principal London offer a double bed, custom-made for PRINCIPAL. The bedrooms have been thoughtfully laid out to provide a practical work desk and accent lighting alongside touches of luxury, from the rich colour palette and 300 thread-count bed linen to a unique collaboration with The Perfumer’s Story for the bathroom amenities.

Superior rooms provide additional space to our Guest rooms and are ideal for longer stays or as an affordable upgrade. Tara Bernerd & Partners have designed the interiors to reflect the heritage of the building and to make the most of period details. Features include specially commissioned artwork, a curated selection of books, as well as beautiful bed linen and big fluffy bathrobes.

Deluxe doubles all overlook the gardens in Russell Square and are some of the best rooms in the house. Guests enjoy all of the design features they would find in a Superior room, along with an enhanced list of amenities. Deluxe double doubles (33 sq. m) have two double beds and have lots of light as all of them face out to views of London. They make ideal family rooms with bags of space and beds so comfortable that even the kids might want a lie-in.

These are generous, open-plan rooms with a sofa and space to stretch out and relax. They include hand-made, pocket-sprung king mattresses made in the UK especially for Principal and thoughtful touches such as Penguin clothbound classic books, a Nespresso coffee-maker, an enhanced offering in the mini bar, and a 70ml bathroom toiletries by The Perfumer’s Story. The ceramic-and-marble bathrooms offer a mix of walk-in shower stalls and roll-top baths.

Our one-bedroom Signature suites include separate, self-contained living rooms with a sofa, chairs and coffee table and ornamental fireplace; flat-screen televisions in both the living room and bedroom; fresh flowers; magazines and a small, carefully selected library of books, award-winning music systems by Ruark, as well as fully stocked minibars and a personalised welcome amenity on arrival. Bathrooms are generous, both in terms of their size and the quality of finishes, and include toiletries by The Perfumer’s Story.

These are among the most distinctive and desirable rooms in the hotel, and occupy corners of the building so they are flooded with natural daylight.  The living-rooms include big sofas with coffee tables and art books; multi-channel, flat-screen televisions above the fireplace; small dining table and chairs; a cocktail cabinet and complimentary mini bar; and a walk-through wardrobe.  In the bedroom, king-size four-poster beds look out to roll-top baths which sit within a raised corner alcove of the room, surrounded by shuttered windows.
